Passage Maker magazine hosted the mid-Atlantic TrawlerFest in Baltimore for the third year the last weekend of September and it was another great success. The Baltimore inner harbor is a vibrant waterfront with shops, activities and historical boats scattered around. Adding to the vibe was a Baltimore Orioles home baseball game and the Baltimore Ravens Thursday night football game – the city was buzzing. The weather was fantastic, it was a beautiful fall weekend.
Nordhavn had three great boats on display, a 40II, 43 and 47 and we had our entire Rhode Island staff on hand- Jenny Stern, Dave Balfour and Ben Sprague. Andy Hegley flew up from Florida and I flew over from California.
We had very good traffic on all three boats. Wolfie, the Nordhavn 40II is a brand new boat that is just starting to venture out cruising and the owners were kind enough to let us “borrow” her for the show. Wolfie features the new John Deere four cylinder main engine and has some other nice details that show we are building better with each hull.
The 43 Nola Girl is a gorgeous flybridge with fiberglass stack and davit model. She is in excellent condition and will make a very nice acquisition for some lucky buyer. She is still listed for sale, the link is: Nola Girl
Imagine is hull 39 of the Nordhavn 47 series and is also a flybridge model with a very impressive assortment of factory options and upgrades. She is a veteran of a passage to Bermuda and lots of coastal travel. She is also listed for sale, and the link is: Imagine
I had a lot of fun teaching two seminars, “Enjoying your Trawler” and a new one, “Cruising from Point A to Point B”. The classes were full and the audiences very enthusiastic. If you have not been to a TrawlerFest I encourage you to give it a try, it is so much more than a boat show and a targeted experience for trawler aficionados. The next event Trawler Fest is in Fort Lauderdale, FL this coming January – maybe we’ll see you there!
In the meantime we’re in the process of setting up for the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show where we will have a 47, 56MS and 68 on display. For more details: Nordhavn Fort Lauderdale 2012
