Like the dozens of owners before them, Tim and Cindy Leuliette fell in love with the Nordhavn 62 for typical reasons such as the boat’s design, engineering, capabilities and quality. But they had their own vision of the style and elegance they wanted in their new boat.
So the Leuliettes teamed with naval architect Jeff Leishman, project manager Trever Smith and the engineers and craftsmen at the Ta Shing shipyard, and together they created a magnificent Nordhavn 62 that will set new standards for future Nordhavns.
The most striking difference between Nausikaa (hull #25) and other Nordhavns is the interior wood. Instead of the usual teak, Nausikaa was built out of maple with a stain and finish painstakingly chosen by the Leuliettes to create the effect of their vision. Additionally, many features were borrowed from the lovely Temenos (N62 hull #7 built in 1997) such as crown moldings, raised panels and door frame design, which set this boat apart.
Other special features include:
- Detroit Series 60 main engine
- New 1000 Kg Aritex davit (upgraded from 660 Kg)
- Two larger salon windows in lieu of 3 smaller windows for more light
- “Kneeling” salon table designed to convert from a dining table to a coffee table
- Granite counter tops in galley and heads
- Natural stone flooring in galley and heads
Nausikaa was discharged from a freighter in the Port of Miami on June 21 and received by P.A.E. employees James Knight, Mike Gregovich and Mickey Smith. The team worked hard on the boat all day and by late in the evening, Nausikaa was safely tied up at our new office in Stuart, Florida.
During the days since her delivery, Nausikaa has received the finishing touches of her interior décor, meanwhile installation of an extensive electronics package is ongoing as the commissioning process proceeds.
We are extremely proud of the magnificent Nausikaa and sincerely thank Tim and Cindy for the ideas, passion and tenacity they brought to the project. She amplifies all the qualities that make Nordhavns so special and is truly a boat worth seeing. If you would like to view Nausikaa, please call Ray Danet in our Stuart office at (772) 223-6331 to make an appointment.
