Overview
We are pleased to bring a classic Nordhavn 57 to the market. Hull number 18 is an extremely well designed and well-engineered yacht capable of cruising in any waters of the globe in almost any weather or sea condition. Everything about her is designed with safety and comfort in mind with hundreds of custom designs and solutions based on many years of yachting and Naval experience by the previous owners.
The entire yacht has a beautiful teak interior with a very well equipped galley and a four stateroom layout (the only N57 built in this configuration) with comfortable accommodation for 8 persons, but has the layout to have a 2-person crew if desired. A symmetrical saloon layout gives a full walk around the heavy teak deck.
Redundancy has been the basic design of this yacht, where virtually every important system that could fail has been doubled for added safety; this is true of the mechanical systems as well as for electronic and electrical gear.
N5718 is equipped with a 325 hp 12,6 Litre 6-cylinder Lugger diesel engine (3,400 hours) for main propulsion. A reduction gearbox with reverse gear drives a 4-blade variable pitch propeller from Hundested, provides excellent possibilities to trim the drive train for optimal power/fuel consumption under various conditions and cruising speeds. The main engine is keel-cooled and has a dry exhaust system for optimum safety.
A Lugger wing engine (750 hours) rated at 75 hp gives auxiliary power and propulsion through an offset-mounted shaft with a foldable 3-blade Gori propeller on the starboard side. The wing engine also provides hydraulic power for bow thruster, stern thruster, hydraulic bilge pump and anchor winch/capstan along with anchor chain wash.
A Northern Light main genset (240V/50Hz) (4,050 hours) gives 16kw of power.
Cruising speed is 8 knots and at 7.5 knots and full use of the main genset the yacht has obtained a range of 3,000 nautical miles. Top speed is around 9.5 knots.
Cruisair air conditioning throughout the yacht (including the engine room) with heating strips maintains perfect temperature and humidity control under any cruising conditions.
COCO is furthermore equipped with a Central heating system, renewed to KABOLA KB 50 in 2019. The central heating system provides true comfort, with no fan noises and at low fuel and power consumption.
Fresh water can be produced with 28 gallons per hour with the Sea Recovery water maker, (Currently not been in use with the present owner)
The pilothouse is an explorer and navigator’s dream come true, featuring 2 power Stidd leather helm seats in front of the instrumentation. There are three 19-inch flat panel-monitors run by the Transas computer with high redundancy features and Transas Navisailor 4000 chart program with the worldwide edition of electronic charts. A Furuno black box radar FR-2115 can be viewed on the centre screen or as an overlay in the chart program. A second Furuno unit (combined radar, chart plotter and depth sounder adds to the redundancy concept.) a C. Plath solid-state gyro more commonly found on flight jets and sophisticated navy vessels give reliable heading information. The C. Plath magnetic compass is mounted overhead and in addition there is a fluxgate magnetic compass (2017) and a new Satellite Compass mounted in 2020. Twin Leica MX420 GPS units provide accuracy and redundancy and a Simrad auto-pilot or back-up C PLATH Pilot make sure the yacht stays on track in any weather conditions.
Communications are secured by a Furuno FS-1503 single side band with a DSC-60 watch receiver, a Furuno FM-8500 VHF, a Simard Shipmate RS 8400 VHF complete with a Digital selective calling unit. On the flybridge there is a third Icom VHF radio. The flybridge has a full set of instrumentation making it a comfortable Nav station when weather permits. A Motorola Iridium sat. phone maintains satellite communications. (presently not in service agreement) Communication between the pilothouse and deck is achieved with a two-way hailer system.
N5718 has an audio-visual system featuring a 30” screen in the saloon, speaker system, and satellite TV for both European and US satellites. The master stateroom has a 19” flat screen and its own VR and DVD player, COCO is also equipped with a combined HP colour printer, copier, scanner. The yacht is equipped with a 4-camera surveillance system and a GSM Jablotron alarm system (2017) for intrusion as well as monitoring other important functions on board such as high water detection.
A Bauer high-pressure dive compressor provides COCO with autonomy for scuba diving in remote locations.
Naiad hydraulic stabilizers from a PTO on the main engine ensure smooth sailing by significantly reducing roll. The bulbous bow reduces pitching movement, increases buoyancy in the forward part of the boat and improves fuel efficiency through an increased hull length under the water line.
During previous ownership COCO underwent a very successful voyage from Ft. Lauderdale to Bermuda, Azores, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Portugal, Gibraltar and Spain.
All services and oil changes on engines and other systems have been performed according to the Service handbook for COCO. (Oil changes 3 times a year on all engines).
Although she has logged approximately 24,000 nautical miles, she is just “broken-in” and is in excellent condition and ready for new adventures worldwide.
She was dry-docked in April 2019 at Grenaa Ship yard for annual maintenance. New bottom paint was applied and all zincs were changed under the waterline, and all valves etc. checked. A process which will be repeated prior to delivery to her new owner.
We strongly recommend viewing COCO to any prospective buyer’s in order to really appreciate her capabilities and equipment.
