Overview
“NUTMEG” is a beautiful, wide body, three-stateroom Nordhavn 62. She had benefitted from both her previous and current owners, providing fanatical attention to maintenance and upgrades. Among recent maintenance items, she was hauled in January of 2023 for a complete bottom job, including media blasting the bottom, new epoxy barrier coat & new bottom paint. The teak caprails were completely stripped, joints were uniformly routed out using a custom jig and are now gleaming under twelve coats of new All-Wood varnish. The widely respected Philbrooks shipyard in Sidney, BC performed these projects.
Nordhavn aficionados will recognize NUTMEG as the model gracing the March 2023 Nordhavn calendar.
NUTMEG is a veteran of trans-oceanic passage making. Her previous owners have taken NUTMEG from the US West Coast to Australia, Australia back to the Pacific Northwest via the Pacific Islands, including Hawaii direct to Kodiak, Alaska, before running down through Southeast Alaska (Prince William Sound, Sitka) to British Columbia via the Inside Passage. NUTMEG’s current owners have extensively cruised the Pacific Northwest, with majority of time spent in South East Alaska and Vancouver Island.
In addition to the legendary proven track record of the Nordhavn 62, the following specifications describe a vessel with updated maintenance and equipment well-suited to cruising at any latitude. Extensive inventory of spare parts onboard leaves little to do than provision and go.
The three-stateroom interior arrangement allows generous space to be apportioned to the owner’s and forward guest staterooms, allowing more flexibility in a second guest stateroom for either office or overflow sleeping functions. The pilothouse has also been thoughtfully configured, apportioning space for the helm chair, settee, day head, work desk and chest freezer, providing enough cold storage for worldwide cruising. The aft pilothouse layout gives the on-watch crew great overall visibility and minimal pitching motion.
The hull is Beige #310, and nicely defines the sheerline against the white deck, varnished cap rails, and superstructure. The boot stripe is dark blue. All decks have a teak overlay bonded rather than fastened down. The foredeck was re-caulked and sanded in 2017.
The interior is cherry wood and the joinery is done in a classic style with raised panel doors and drawer fronts, crown moldings overhead, and wainscot detail on the passageway bulkheads. Cabin soles are cherry and spruce throughout. Efficient general storage and book shelves are incorporated into every living space.
The seating upholstery was done by a Seattle vendor in a tan Ultrasuede, using premium high-resiliency foam.
The audio system is high-end, and there are television screens in the salon and owner’s cabin.

Port Guest Cabin/Office
Original owners each planned for dedicated work spaces – both in the pilothouse and in the mid guest cabin that also serves as a second guest cabin. In the office configuration, the desk faces outboard presenting a large work surface. Two portlights outboard of the desk, plus one large overhead hatch, allow plenty of ambient light into the cabin and onto the desk top. The deck hatch and ports are fitted with an Oceanair combination screen and shade. There is also plenty of lighting available overhead. A leather upholstered seat swings out from under the desk.
There is abundant organized storage that includes lockers over the desk, a hanging locker, drawers (including a file drawer) in the desk, and a clever moveable locker that easily unfastens from the forward bulkhead and fills the seating alcove in the desk top. A sectional cushion fits onto the filled desk top, and is retained by the sea-rails fitted to the desk.

Pilothouse
With the settee and dinette table forward, there is enough room for a very functional desk and office area in the port aft corner. A PC monitor sits easily on the desktop, just forward and above the desktop, is a bulkhead mounted instrument box to accommodate the ICOM single-sideband radio, and Garmin multi-display. A desk seat swings out from underneath.
Even with the popular day head present, there is still room enough to accommodate a nine cubic foot GE freezer in a teak enclosure between the head and the desk. NUTMEG’s pilothouse is a beautiful place in which to operate the boat, as well as a place to gather. The visibility from the house across the expansive foredeck is superb. In fact, it’s one of the elements contributing to the great character of the Nordhavn 62 which has aided in the propulsion of this model settling into people’s minds as “the most iconic Nordhavn ever”.
