OVERVIEW

SOOEY is 2025 Nordhavn N625 hull #5, the current expression of the hull form that began with the Nordhavn 55 and carried through the 60 and 63. More than a hundred boats on that hull have crossed oceans. The N625 keeps the same footprint as the 60 and cleans up the lines: a larger flybridge, enlarged galley, built-in BBQ sink station with tackle storage, larger cabin windows, foredeck seating, and a cleaner, more refined profile than the well-known N60. She is finished with a cream hull and white superstructure, and is currently in Ensenada, Mexico.

Designed by Jeff Leishman and built by South Coast Marine for Pacific Asian Enterprises. Standard ocean-going equipment includes a single John Deere main with a dedicated wing engine, bow and stern thrusters at four stations, and fuel for roughly 3,000 nautical miles at passage speed.

SPECIFICATIONS

Highlights

  • Proven Nordhavn 55/60 hull form, CE Category A ocean.
  • John Deere 6090 main, 325 hp (80 hours), with a 100 hp John Deere wing engine (9 hours) and separate driveline.
  • Northern Lights 20 kW generator (20 hours).
  • 2,250 gallons of fuel; about 3,000 nm range at about 8 knots.
  • Side-Power bow and stern thrusters, four control stations.
  • Three-cabin, three-head layout: master and guest below, captain’s cabin aft of the pilothouse.
  • Custom carpeting and upholstery throughout.
  • Includes a Highfield 380 tender with a Suzuki 30 hp outboard.
  • Steelhead Esprit 1,500 lb telescoping boat-deck crane, visible in the stern photograph.

  • 2025 build, hull #5.

Accommodation

The N625 is arranged for a couple cruising with guests or a small crew. Two staterooms sit below, each with its own head. A third cabin, the captain’s or off-watch quarters, is aft of the wheelhouse so the watch can rest without going below. The salon, galley, and dining area share the main deck, with sightlines out to the aft deck. The flybridge is larger than on the 60, and the foredeck has seating that the earlier boats did not.

Hull #5 is finished with custom carpeting and upholstery throughout. Joinery is finished in a beautiful horizontal grain cherry and accompanied by solid stone counter tops.

Machinery and systems

Propulsion is a John Deere 6090AFM85, M2 rating, 325 horsepower at 2,200 rpm, 80 hours, through a ZF ZFW325 reduction gear at 3.958:1. Two 24-volt, 190-amp alternators charge the house bank. The wing engine is a John Deere 4045TFM85, 100 horsepower at 2,400 rpm, with a ZF 631V 2.477:1 V-drive and its own shaft — a true get-home system, not a bolt-on. Wing-engine hours: 9.

Electrical generation is a Northern Lights 20 kW set, showing 20 hours. Side-Power 15 hp bow and stern thrusters run on 24 volts through 12-inch tunnels, with stations in the pilothouse, on the flybridge, on the aft deck, and at the starboard Portuguese bridge.

The tender is a Highfield 380 with a Suzuki 30 hp outboard.
