Overview
2005 Nordhavn 43 | Canadian Registered Vessel
Curiosity XI is an exceptional example of the Nordhavn 43: a Canadian-registered, proven long-range passagemaker that combines serious offshore capability with unusually high standards of maintenance, organization and presentation.
One of the defining strengths of the Nordhavn 43 is the redundancy engineered into her systems. From independent auxiliary propulsion and multiple steering, electrical, communication and navigation backups to robust fuel and safety systems, she was designed with the self-sufficiency and reliability required for serious offshore passagemaking.
Over the past four years, she has cruised extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest, including Puget Sound, the San Juan and Gulf Islands, Haida Gwaii via Hecate Strait, and two extended seasons in Alaska.
Curiosity XI is not merely equipped for adventure; she has already proven herself in some of the Pacific Northwest’s most demanding cruising grounds.
She has also benefited from continuous professional and owner-performed maintenance, along with a substantial program of upgrades to navigation, communications, heating, watermaking, refrigeration, electrical systems and onboard comfort. Her condition, organization and documentation reflect the level of
care invested in her over many years.
For buyers seeking a Nordhavn 43 that has been thoughtfully maintained, continuously improved and genuinely proven in demanding Pacific Northwest cruising, Curiosity XI stands apart.

Walkthrough
Curiosity XI is entered from the cockpit through a robust, double-dogged Dutch door into a spacious saloon and galley arrangement. Large windows, teak trim, Ultraleather upholstery and teak-and-spruce flooring give the interior a warm, traditional Nordhavn feel without making the space feel closed in. To starboard is a generous U-shaped settee with fixed table; to port, built-in cabinetry provides substantial storage and houses the saloon entertainment system.
The galley is open to the saloon and fitted with granite countertops, a Force 10 propane stove and oven, Sub- Zero refrigeration, freezer, microwave and trash compactor. The layout is practical for both living aboard and preparing meals underway.
A few steps up is the enclosed pilothouse, one of the defining features of the Nordhavn 43. The helm is arranged for serious cruising, with excellent visibility, a dedicated helm chair, extensive navigation and communications equipment, and a settee/table arrangement aft that also serves as a watch berth. Watertight Dutch doors on both sides open to the Portuguese bridge and provide immediate access to the exterior decks.
The flybridge provides a second fully functional helm station and an exceptional place to run the boat in good weather. It is equipped with twin Pompanette helm chairs, Furuno navigation and autopilot controls, a Ritchie compass, and a full bimini enclosure with Isinglass curtains. With excellent visibility and direct access from the Portuguese bridge, it offers a comfortable, practical alternative to the enclosed pilothouse for coastal cruising and fair-weather passages.
The two staterooms are located forward and below. The guest stateroom includes a wide double berth to port, custom mattress, custom upholstery, desk and private head with shower. The owner’s stateroom is amidships for added comfort, and features a queen island berth, custom mattress, custom upholstery and a separate head with a particularly generous shower.
The engine room is accessed from the owner’s stateroom, with secondary access through the saloon sole. For a vessel of this size, it is unusually spacious and serviceable. The Lugger main engine is on centerline, with the Yanmar wing engine aft to port and Northern Lights generator aft to starboard. Fuel management and filtration systems are arranged for straightforward inspection and maintenance.
Aft, the cockpit provides access to the swim platform and a large lazarette below, where steering gear, inverter, hot-water system, heating equipment and watermaker are located with additional room for storage.
Forward, the foredeck includes substantial ground-tackle storage and a large chain locker. The boat deck is accessed from the Portuguese bridge and accommodates the tender, Steelhead davit and additional deck storage.
