Tartaruga is without doubt one of the most talked about yachts we have built in recent years. She clearly shows our commitment to customization within a production format and is a truly wonderful example of tailored craftsmanship. She has been owned and cruised by her owner who had a full time captain aboard her. One of her excellent features is that she can accommodate crew without infringing on the guest areas, but at the same time her systems and design lend her to shorthanded cruising.
The overall interior style was to blend the look of a traditional gentleman’s cruiser with a modern contemporary feel. Her main deck and lower deck use satin mahogany, Italian marble and intricate paneling to achieve this feel. On the upper pilothouse level, it has been left very much as a ‘standard’ finish. Satin teak and a simple styling give this ‘workplace’ a professional feel.
The galley is unique to the 76’s in that it has been separated from the main salon area, making it a fully functional galley, clean and very appealing for both professional chef and owner.
Accommodation consists of a master cabin and two double guest cabins, whilst there are two crew cabins in the pilothouse for 3-4 crew.
Tartaruga was build to full CE standards and is a 240V 50HZ vessel. She is fitted with a Atlas 25kv a shore power converter which allows her to accept both 50 and 60 HZ shore power. Tartaruga is MCA coded for charter “not currently in survey but easily recertified”.
COCKPIT
Step aboard Tartaruga via her ‘letterbox’ hydraulic passerelle that retracts into the lazarette, you are met by an undercover stainless steel and canvas framed bimini over a beautiful teak deck cockpit area with fixed high gloss varnished table and occasional chairs. This boat is built to pamper, so as you would expect there are sinks and fridges cleverly built into the cockpit area by the door. The boat is a wide body configuration with teak decks throughout all the exterior decks.
SALON
Enter the salon via the door and one is immediately cosseted by the thick carpets, the beautiful interior moldings and mahogany interior detail. There is a dining table for six and owner supplied sofas and easy chairs with a 55″ flat screen TV to port.
Beautifully painted walls, intricate ceiling beams, rich mahogany paneling, brass fixtures, Italian light fixtures, built-in bookcases and curved ceiling molding on the stairway to the pilothouse are just a few of the unique and exquisite features of the salon.
GALLEY
The galley has been fully separated from the salon and given a very professional feel to its layout with white paneling and teak trim on the cupboards. All galley equipment is Miele with Sub-Zero refrigeration, countertops are Corian and there is a fixed table in the galley with bench seating and chairs. The galley configuration is unique to this particular Nordhavn 76 and functions as a crew lounge as well as a professional galley.
MASTER STATEROOM
Continuing through the main deck you come to the owner’s stateroom again finished in the mahogany wood. This stateroom is full hull width which gives much more space and light to the cabin, and a 47″ flat screen TV is mounted on the bulkhead facing the bed. Forward of this cabin and approaching the bow is the master stateroom head, bidet, and Jacuzzi bathing tub. Finished in high Italian marble, brass fittings and a tailored layout which gives a high luxury feel without compromise.
LOWER DECK STATEROOMS
From the salon area, curved stairs take you down to the guest staterooms. On this level you also have a utility area and the main engine room access. The staterooms consist of a very large double cabin and an impressive twin cabin both finished in beautiful mahogany. Both have large dedicated heads, ample storage lockers and again the style fit and finish replicates the master cabin and salon.
UTILITY AREA LEADING TO ENGINE ROOM
Here we have a Miele washer and dryer, ironing facilities and linen storage as well as the main ship’s electrical panel. Fitted in white Formica, it replicates the galley style. Here you have the impressive engine room door and access.
ENGINE ROOM AND SYSTEMS
As with all Nordhavns, the engine room is, for some, the highlight of the vessel! Tartaruga has a single engine MTU Detroit 60 Series (535 HP) with dry stack keel cooling and a twin disc gear box. She has an auxiliary wing engine, Lugger 668D, which produces 105hp, and also has a hydraulic PTO to power up the TRAC hydraulics that power the upgraded stabilizers TRAC 370’s and integrated thrusters bow and stern, windlasses, anchor wash and auxiliary bilge pump. Tartarugais fitted with two generators a 20KW Northern Lights genset for lighter load running and a 26KW for heavy loads. The TRAC system also has the STAR feature (stabilization at rest). To back this up she also has twin ‘flopper stoppers’ for stability at anchor (full system details available upon request).
PILOTHOUSE
From a stairwell in the salon, we head up to the ‘business’ end of Tartaruga, the pilothouse. She is fitted out in this area with the standard Nordhavn finish, using satin teak woods, teak and spruce floors and a simple yet classic cabinetry design. Unique to this hull we have two cabins on this level, each with its own head and shower. So captain and crew can be accommodated as needed, or these staterooms can used as overspill when additional friends and family want to visit!
There are twin Stidd helm chairs finished in green ultra-leather and bench seating behind the chairs. Navigation is as one would expect with dual systems and redundancy on the Furuno NAV NET black box systems. This area also includes a refrigerator for easy access to drinks.

Exit the pilothouse using the split Dutch doors port or starboard and you are lead safely via the Portuguese bridge to the bow area. On the foredeck we have twin RIBS:
Novamarine, 5.20 meters with 65 HP Yamaha outboard
Arimar, 3.60 meters with 15 hp outboard
These are launched using the Marquipt 2500 crane. There is a fuel tank and pump dedicated for filling the tenders as well as excellent stowage for ‘the toys’.
Move back up onto the Portuguese bridge via its cantilevered door and walk to the stern via the Portuguese bridge control station on starboard side, and you arrive at the upper deck level dining area. Here under cover of the flybridge deck extension you can relax or dine with a raised view of your surroundings.
Via the pilothouse you can take the staircase up to the flybridge. Here you have the outside helm position with related controls and electronics as well as comfortable bench seating around a gloss varnished teak table. There is a BBQ sink and refrigerator here, and added to the back of the flybridge is a brilliant sun deck.
FLYBRIDGE
The flybridge is fitted with a very comfortable dining settee in addition to a Miele electric BBQ, and a U-Line 75F drinks refrigerator. Tartaruga was built with the very popular extended aft flybridge sun deck with ample storage and teak sun chaise lounges.
