About 30 people were on hand to witness the christening of Nordhavn 6314 Lady Di on Friday afternoon, the newest boat to be handed over to happy new owners. Mike Kugler smashed the ritualistic bottle of champagne against Lady Di’s anchor on Friday, officially welcoming his family’s new boat to the world.
It was a thrilling and emotional ceremony for the Kugler family. Although hailing from Nebraska, Mike spent time boating with his parents. Now Mike, surrounded by his own family – including the ladies Di in his life, wife Diane and mom Diane – will start new adventures on Lady Di. Their journeys will kick off with an exciting cruise in February which will be documented on nordhavn.com. Together with PAE vice president Jim Leishman, the Kulgers’ salesman, Eric Leishman, Nordhavn media arts specialist Doug Harlow and PAE staffer Brian Leishman, they will depart Dana Point, CA bound for La Paz and continue on to Cabo San Lucas. More details on the Kugler adventure will be announced on nordhavn.com.
Once the PAE crew departs the boat in Cabo, the Kuglers plan to continue cruising Mexico for a couple of months and then reverse back up the west coast to Alaska this upcoming season.
