February 7, 2016 — The first newly constructed Nordhavn ever to ship to Turkey arrived at the Port of Fethiye this week where the team from Nordhavn Eastern Mediterranean (NEM) was excitedly waiting to bring her back to their facility in Gocek for final commissioning.
Monday’s offload of N52 hull 74 marks the first boat the NEM crew have been wholly responsible for – from point-of-sale through final commissioning. Once splashed into Fethiye Bay, it was a quick hour-long cruise up to the service dock.
Riza Cagdas Cakir, sales manager of NEM and Chief Operating Officer of our partner firm, Emek Marin, along with his service staff, has gained plenty of experience working on Nordhavns over the years. Turkey has long been a cruising hotbed for Nordhavns and Emek Marin has been the facility of choice for owners looking to have their boats serviced in the area.
But there was something different with the arrival of this boat. “When I first entered the boat, it gave me a lot of emotions,” said Cakir, who has worked tirelessly with the owners for well over a year. “It was exciting to see the final product. She is a very beautiful boat. The quality of the finished product isamazing.” By the time they reached the dock, Cakir had lined up three leads looking to get on board.
This week’s delivery of N52#74 is a milestone – not only for team NEM, but for Nordhavn/PAE (Pacific Asian Enterprises), further proving the global capability of the company. With 8 sales offices worldwide, a buyer can purchase a new Nordhavn from practically any location and have it delivered and commissioned to any number of highly respected, factory-direct facilities. In addition to the United States, there havebeen Nordhavns delivered to Canada, England, Australia, Hong Kong, Cyprus, and now Turkey. “I think it is noteworthy that we have yet another resource for selling, ordering, offloading, commissioning and delivering a new boat which we can offer our customers,” said Dave Harlow, Nordhavn’s Project Team Leader.
N52#74 is a standard layout, with some modifications including the addition of a bunk to allow for 5 people to sleep on board. The boat has the very contemporary feel of all Nordhavns with horizontalgrain throughout the interior while a luxe black and gold marble covers the counter surfaces. She features teak decks in the cockpit and side walkway as well as a functional swim step extension.
The boat was completed and tested thoroughly in China and will undergo approximately 4-to-6 weeks of final commissioning by Emek Marin. Representatives from Alcom Marine will install the full cache of electronics ordered by the owners on site. Project Manager Justin Zumwalt added that a technician from PAE will likely fly out to help the NEM crew with training the customer on the boat’s systems.
