Impromptu is how Nordhavns do

When nine Nordhavns just so happen to randomly be hanging out in the same anchorage, the obvious course of action ensues: they have an impromptu rendezvous. It all started this past weekend when John Ellis, owner of N68 Dragon, began noticing a whole lot of boats that looked very similar to his dotting the Bahamian anchorage he and his family had been hanging out in the past several weeks. Upon closer examination, eight other Nordhavns, ranging in size from 43 to 68 feet, had all descended upon Georgetown. It was something to behold, and John decided he was sitting on a photo op he couldn’t possibly pass up. He’s notoriously very crafty with a drone and video camera – both of which he uses to capture his fishing skills and adventure how-tos – and frequently features the footage on his YouTube channel @RidingDragon. This time, John gathered up the troops to see if they wouldn’t mind getting into formation so he could secure some really great cruising footage. He figured there’s nothing like watching a whole bunch of different Nordhavns, all in a row, as they troll in the crystal clear Bahamian waters. (John’s hunch was right. Just check out the video he took.)

Once the video/photo shoot finished, and what with so many Nordhavns now all in one spot, there was really only thing left to do…which was drop anchor and dinghy into shore for a get-together at the Exumas Yacht Club. PAE loves celebrating its owners as much as our owners love celebrating so when John messaged his salesman Eric Leishman about the company footing the bill for a few rounds of drinks and apps, the request was met with a resounding yes. Hearing about so many happy owners doing Nordhavn-y things with their boats is kind of PAE’s jam.

As the sun melted into the horizon, the happy Nordhavn owners were still basking in the pleasure of each other’s company – John talking about the upcoming Atlantic crossing he’ll be making in a few weeks and Eric and Christi Grab reviewing some of the favorite times they’ve had aboard their Nordhavn 43 Kosmos after nearly 20 years of ownership.

Just a typical day in the life of a Nordhavn owner.
