We are very sad to report that Joe Meglen passed away on December 3 at the age of 72 after a long battle with an auto-immune disease. Joe was one of the original founders of PAE in 1977 along with Jim Leishman and Dan Streech. Joe retired from PAE in 2004 just after the Nordhavn Atlantic Rally.
It has been 17 years since Joe retired, so many of you probably don’t know him. Those of you who had contact with our company prior to 2004 will remember Joe and his kindness and great sense of humor.
Rest in peace Joe……

Thank you for posting this memory for Joe, he was well on 11/1 and his battle ended in about 30 days, fortunately for us he was able to retire early so we had 17 years of wonderful times ❤
You are greatly missed. I will miss the conversations about the Golden World and all the incredible advice you always gave. Rest in peace my friend.
Joe Meglen was a wonderful, kind, far-seeing & discerning man. We were blessed to know him. He, his beautiful, sweet wife Barbara & their exceptional legacy Goldens touched & enriched the lives of all those the word fortunate enough to know him and them.
We were so saddened to hear of Joe’s passing. We have fond memories of trips, dinners and many laughs.
Joe had a great sense of humor and was a very kind man.
I have found this quote from Ronald Reagan to be so true:
“Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories.”
May memories be a comfort.
I just read this and I am deeply saddened by Joe’s passing. Barbara, I am so sorry for your loss, and a loss to all who knew him.
Joe was like a big brother to me. I enjoyed the time spent with working for him and being at sea together aboard those memorable trips.
May you find calm conditions always…
