Overview

“Georgina” is hull number 10 of the Nordhavn 64’ series and recently completed a voyage from the west coast of North America Via the south pacific, New Zealand and Australia. After the trip was complete “Georgina” was shipped back to North America aboard a yacht transport and cruised up the coast from Costa Rica back to Canada.  She is a heavily outfitted with the finest marine equipment and proven as an offshore cruiser whose owners have meticulously maintained her.  “Georgina” has just been hauled for new bottom paint and all zincs replaced. If interested in a Nordhavn 64, “Georgina” is a MUST SEE!

SPECIFICATIONS

General Arrangement
“Georgina” was built as a forward pilothouse model with the full asymmetrical saloon or known as a wide body.

Enter from the cockpit through the aft salon door. All lights through the boat are on dimmer switches. The interior wood is African cherry with a satin finish. Brand new carpet throughout “Georgina’s” asymmetrical layout, with a new settee to port and “stressless” Ekornes chair aft and port. A fixed table with a burlwood inlay to starboard and six (6) Roche Bobois Italian saddle leather dining chairs. Joiner work to starboard provides a lot of storage space and houses the flat screen TV on a lift.  There is high gloss burlwood on the top surfaces of all the salon joinery, and Cherry and inlayed ebony floors in galley, pilothouse, stairs and all heads. The galley is forward of the salon, and has all of the accouterments of creativity for the most accomplished cook including a high low “appliance garage” in the outboard forward side of the galley.

Extensive sound attenuation measures add to comfort onboard. The salon and galley soles are constructed using a 2″ Nida Core system. The salon carpet has ¼” Soundown de-coupler layer and 5/8” rubber underlay.

To starboard are the easy access steps down to the owner’s stateroom and also steps that continue down to the engine room, utility room and day head. Just inboard of the steps down are the steps up to the pilothouse. The steps themselves are inlaid with Vetus synthetic anti-skid material.

The master stateroom spans the full beam of the boat where it is situated. It has a king size bed with new mattress, open space and a lot of storage space organized in drawers and lockers. Large opening ports flood the stateroom with light and provide cross ventilation. The custom shoji screen window coverings are opening, locking and removable with their own storage locker. There are custom burl wood pillars over each side table. There is a master head ensuite with a large stall shower with steamer, Tecma toilet, granite-topped vanity, and cherry and ebony cabin sole. There is also access to the guest staterooms forward from the master as well.

Leading forward and out of the master into a hallway there is access to the two guest staterooms. The hallway also serves as a landing from the forward steps down from the pilothouse. Beneath the landing there is access to a large mechanical and storage space – somewhat akin to having an amidship lazarette – with water system components, and further access to gray and black water system components.
The starboard guest stateroom has two single beds (over – under) and its own private ensuite full head. The lower bed has drawer storage below it and locker storage above. There is also a large hanging locker aft of the berths, with wardrobe drawers below.

The port guest stateroom has a queen style bed with drawer storage under and locker space forward. There is also access to its own private head forward. Below the sole of the port guest stateroom there is another larger mechanical space that actually has enough room to store five-gallon buckets of fluid in addition to gaining good access to the mechanical components installed there.

The pilothouse is, simply stated, a comfortable place to gather and spend time on longer passages, or as a dining area with a view. There are two adjustable Stidd helm chairs, and a beautifully displayed instrument array featuring four new 19” KEP displays among the other navigation/communication electronics mounted there. Just aft of the helm chairs is a dinette that can accommodate four to six comfortably. Just aft of the dinette is the double watch berth, a great feature for off-watch crew or overflow sleeping.

From the port forward section of the pilothouse there are steps down to the forward guest staterooms or to the forward entrance to the master stateroom as well. In the starboard aft section of the pilothouse there are steps providing interior access to the flybridge.  Continuing down the steps from the salon past the master stateroom is an expansive utility room with a full day head, its own washer and dryer and huge amounts of storage and cold storage.

Long Range Capability

With a waterline of just under 60-feet, “Georgina” has a high cruise speed of 10.5 knots and at 9 knots; her range is nearly 3,000 nautical miles. Her hull form, a refinement of Nordhavn’s MFD (Modified Full Displacement) design, features fuller aft sections that reduce “squatting” and pitching motion while increasing static stability, and she is equipped with hydraulic active fin stabilizers.
Main propulsion is provided by an MTU Detroit Diesel Series 60 400hp diesel engine that turns a 3 1/2-inch Aquamet shaft via a 3:43:1 reduction Twin Disc transmission. This amount of reduction allows the 44″ prop to turn slowly, greatly reducing noise and vibration. A dry exhaust, a signature design element of most Nordhavns, eliminates the need for a large through-hull and raw water pump, greatly reducing the risk of failure at sea.
A Lugger 1064A wing engine with its own shaft, folding prop, fuel system and battery are designed to move the N64 at 4-5 knots in normal conditions and to make headway in rough seas should an emergency cause a loss of power from the main engine or power train. This “get home” system has proven to be the most foolproof of all types of systems used for this purpose, and it has become a signature feature of Nordhavns.
