For the past 36 hours, the Nordhavn 56 Motorsailer, hull #9, has been put through her paces as she will embark on her longest and most important cruise to date: a 500 nm delivery from Portsmouth, RI to Annapolis, MD, being led by Jim Leishman, vice president of Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE) and his intrepid crew consisting of wife Sue, son Eric and swabby dog, Tug.
For the California natives who depart Nordhavn’s northeast office this week, the trip through southern New England, Long Island Sound and the upper Chesapeake will be part pleasure/part business with the final destination being the United States Powerboat Show where the Motorsailer will be prominently displayed.
This Motorsailer has made the trip to Annapolis before, but these are foreign cruising grounds for Nordhavn’s first family who will take their time visiting a few ports along the way before the show starts on October 16 so they can enjoy the scenery as well as the boat. They got right down to business taking advantage of some of the things MS5609 has to offer – for starters, a delicious dinner cooked by Capt. Jim on the boat’s cockpit bbq Tuesday night.
The Leishmans will lend a hand working the Nordhavn display at the boat show, which runs through Sunday, October 19, and also features brokerage Nordhavn 64 Sweet Hope. We encourage you to stop by and ask them about their delivery adventure. By the way, Nordhavn MS 5609 has never been owned, but she’ll be broken in. Can you think of a luckier buyer than the one who gets their new boat tried and tested by none other than the guru of all things Nordhavn?
