Jennifer and James Hamilton navigate their Nordhavn 52 Dirona through Kilstraumen Channel in the westernmost point on Norway’s mainland. Jennifer writes that in the video, “As we approach the bridge, we can see the ferry Solundir approaching from the north at 32 kts. It looks like we are going to meet the ferry at the bridge and there really isn’t room for both boats at that location!”
The Hamiltons traveled from Scotland to Norway in mid-July when the Norwegian government loosened COVID restrictions and allowed some incoming travelers to the country. High on their list of must-sees, they made the quick and easy decision to divert north to Stavanger. “It’s an unusual day when you get up in the morning to start a short regional cruise, and end up making a 2.5-day crossing of the North Sea to an entirely different country,” Jennifer had said at the time. Now four months into their stay, they have been able to take their time exploring the far reaches of Norway. For more on the Hamiltons’ journey aboard Dirona, visit mvdirona.com.
