Nordhavn’s first motorsailer, the apt named “NordSail One”, made its first voyage on Tuesday under sail alone, and according to salesman Eric Leishman, “she performed great. Just as we expected.” The boat logged 15 knots down wind and 6 knots sog (speed over ground) for the majority of the trip. But owner John Graham noted on the return ride Sunday, 8.5 knots sog was achieved (as evidenced by the instrument snapshot) on a beam reach with the engine off and the prop feathered. Any questions as to whether the MS56 would be an adequate sailor are now definitely behind us. In fact, she is showing herself to be a superb sailboat.

Her destination was Trawler Fest in San Diego where hundreds got the chance to climb aboard and experience the Motorsailer’s modern and luxurious interior and superior craftsmanship. If you would like your own personal tour of the Motorsailer, please contact us.
