The last key step before construction can begin on the first Nordhavn 86 is almost complete with finishing touches being put on the deck plug. Chief designer Jeff Leishman and N86 Project Manager Trever Smith are enroute to South Coast, the Chinese factory that is constructing the 86, to make a final inspection of the plug before it is prepared to make the deck mold. This will be the last step before hull #1 begins lamination, which is scheduled to begin by mid-November.
“From what we can tell, everything looks great,” said Leishman. “I don’t foresee any problems during our inspection.”
Hull #1 is expected to be delivered to Dana Point, California in February 2007.
