Do boats have feelings? You be the judge. N96# 18 and N80 #2 spent 18 months together under the same roof at our South Coast Xiamen factory and are fellow graduates of the class of 2022. Then, they were separated by 7,000 miles when the N96 was shipped out to Dana Point in late December. Reunion almost happened a month later when the N80 also shipped to Dana Point, but the two boats ended up on different docks about 200 yards apart.
Was the N80 pining for her old friend? We can’t say for sure, but last night she almost broke free and destroyed the dock in the process. A wild storm that came through southern California Friday night might have given her some assistance. Certainly the fixed wood and concrete pier was no match for the 140-ton yacht. She was swiftly moved to another dock, and neatly tied up. Directly behind the N96.
Be nice to your Nordhavn, and they will be nice to you.
