A Nordhavn 96 has been named a nominee for both the World Superyacht Awards (WSAs) and the International Yacht and Aviation Awards (IYAAs).
VivieRae II, which is hull #14 of the N96 series, was nominated today for two IYAA awards in the category of Best Motor Yacht Design in the 25-40 meter range as well as Best Motor Yacht Interior Design.
The announcement comes just weeks after VivieRae II was nominated for the WSA Voyager Award, presented to a yacht based on the significance of its cruising itinerary and achievement.
For years, Nordhavn centered its promotional efforts on track record, cruising accomplishments, seaworthiness and safety. The recent string of award nominations continues the focus on engineering but also spotlights the luxe interiors and high-end style Nordhavn has become synonymous with.
“It is extremely gratifying to have your efforts recognized,” said Jim Leishman, vice president of Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE), manufacturer of Nordhavn. “Being acknowledged by judges from the most prestigious yacht design awards is testament to Nordhavn’s place amongst the world’s elite yacht manufacturers.”
The nominations come on the heels of Nordhavn 96 Lacey Kay’s recent capture of the 2017 IYAA prize for Best Motor Yacht Design in her class, as well as having been named a finalist of the International Superyacht Society award for Best Interior Design last fall.
The IYAA awards are based partially on public opinion, in which yachting enthusiasts are asked to vote for their favorites. Voting begins in a few weeks. Both the IYAA and WSA awards ceremonies happen in May.
