If there’s one thing Nordhavn owners have made clear around this time of year, it’s that there’s no place like your boat for the holidays. Somehow spending time with family around the holiday table is all the more appealing (or palatable?) when you’re on a Nordhavn anchored in some fabulous location. We caught up with a few owners who will indeed be spending the holidays making merry on their Nordhavn and asked them how and where they’ll be celebrating this year.

N6215 Emmanou
Greetings from Didim, Turkey. Emmanou has been in Turkey since September 2021 and we are enjoying cruising Southern Turkey. D-Marin marina in Didim offers good protection from the Winter and all four of our kids as well as two nieces are descending on us for Christmas/New Year which finally gave us an excuse to string up the lights we have been carrying on board all this time. Last week we drove down to Kas and checked in on Alec, Laurie and Jack on N64 Gratitude. They had their Christmas decorations out and we delivered a mixer for Jack’s Christmas cookies.

We’re currently in Ixtapa, MX and will be celebrating alone, hopefully! (LOL!) We have had guests the last 3 months. But we want to spend the holidays lying in bed with no boat work and watch dumb movies. Our goal is to be in Chiapa, MX by February.

N6310 Martini
We are currently sitting in Costa Baja marina, La Paz. Our son and girlfriend are joining us for the holiday when we’ll take Martini to Bahia San Gabriel and Isla San Francisco for Christmas.

We have taken our time coming down from North Carolina and now are in Florida looking for proper weather to cross the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas. Where we end up doesn’t really matter. We are just hoping to spend Christmas in the crystal clear water of the islands.

N3520 Moondance
For the boat that has everything… we’re giving all the presents to Moondance this year! A little Garmin, a little paint, some stern thrusters as a stocking stuffer. We’ll be decking the hull with bright underwater lights and shiny ornaments on the boat deck that turn sunlight into energy.
As for us, we will spend time dancing in the cockpit, hiding candy canes for our grandkids to find and sipping cocoa while watching the beautiful winter sunsets in Florida.

Not sure about our plans for this year yet but here is how we spent last year. It took 3 kettles of boiling water to untie the frozen lines when we left Vancouver for Silva Bay on Christmas Day. Here is hoping for a warmer Christmas this year.*
*note: Murray later wrote back to say he was in Calgary. Not warmer, unfortunately!
