P.A.E. enjoys its busiest show schedule in four years
A beautiful brand new Nordhavn 60 beckoned slack jawed stares from those who walked along trawler dock “B” at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) last week. The shiny, dark blue hull sparkled during the five sunshine-filled days of FLIBS, which serves as the grand finale of the Fall Boat Show season. Yet, it was the awesome display that almost wasn’t: thanks to a very quick sale of a Nordhavn 76 that Nordhavn Yacht Sales had just taken the listing on, we were forced to shift on the fly after the purchase of the 76 sidelined plans to showcase her in Fort Lauderdale. Cue the gorgeous N60 and her fabulous new owner, who stepped in to save the day at the last minute. To finish off in such fine style was fitting for Nordhavn, who enjoyed its most fruitful show season in four years. Hundreds of visitors climbed aboard the N60 and her smaller sister, the lovely and well-outfitted N43 Danouve in Fort Lauderdale, bringing to close a season that was reminiscent of ones from years past.
High spirits reflecting the mood of the show were in effect on Friday, November 1st at the annual Nordhavn owners party. About 70 owners, PAE staff and guests gathered in the Bahia Mar ballroom to celebrate a very accomplished year at Nordhavn, highlighted by the delivery of the N120, a record-breaking year in brokerage sales and even more circumnavigations by Nordhavn owners. A video montage of the 120’s delivery played in the background as partygoers enjoyed hors-d’oeuvres and cocktails and discussed their summer cruising highlights and potential future endeavors.
The 2013 boat show season kicked off in September with a bang. It started in Newport, Rhode Island, with the Motorsailer on the east coast; a terrific N55 on the west coast at the Newport Boat Show in Newport Beach, CA,; followed days later by the Seattle Boat Show and the Southampton Boat Show in the UK attended by the Nordhavn Europe sales staff. September wrapped up with the Baltimore Trawler Fest, but the season rolled right into October with Nordhavn’s participation in both the Annapolis Sail and Powerboat shows.
With the end of Ft. Lauderdale comes a break in the show season…but not for long! The New Year will be ushered in by the Lake Union Boat Show in Seattle the end of January, followed by the big Miami Boat Show in February followed a week later by the Florida Trawler Fest, debuting in its new location at Lake Park. As always, stay tuned to the Calendar of Events for the latest updates.
