P.A.E. earned top honors last week at the annual Best of the Year awards given by Motorboatingmagazine in the category of “Dream Makers.” It’s a rather unusual category, but pretty fitting when you consider what people who cruise in Nordhavns have accomplished. There are way too many achievements to list here, (just check out the Distance Pennant Program page,
the Nordhavn Adventures section or any of the owners’ blogs) but given the super adventures undertaken by Nordhavn owners last year, it seems Nordhavn’s win was inevitable. Editor-in-chief Peter Janssen referred specifically to the remarkable voyages in 2009 of Sprague Theobald and his navigation of the Northwest Passage as well as the three Nordhavns who comprised the Great Siberian Sushi Run – a 6,000-nm passage from Seattle to Osaka, Japan – as chief factors in the editorial staff’s decision.
“It would be hard to find a more adventurous group than Nordhavn owners,” Janssen said at the awards ceremony held February 10th in Miami. “And Nordhavn builds the boats and creates the culture that allows these owners to pursue their dreams all over the world.”
P.A.E.’s Director of Marketing Jennifer Stern accepted the award on behalf of the company. “This award is for our great owners as much as it is for Nordhavn,” she said. “Building superior, seaworthy boats is the easy part, and it’s that adventurous spirit of our owners who keep us at the top of our game.
“No other boat brand has as many ocean crossings and circumnavigations as Nordhavn. We’re extremely proud to be able to say that.”
This is the second time Motorboating has named Nordhavn as “Best of”. The company also earned top honors after completion of its Nordhavn Atlantic Rally in 2004.
