There are over 2,000 members of the Nordhavn Dreamers group, a chat site where people spend time discussing any and all things Nordhavn – some use it as a research tool on their path to future Nordhavn ownership; some use it as a way to fulfill their Nordhavn fervor. Either way, the people on this chat site worship Nordhavns.

What many don’t know is that Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE) has its own dreamers group. This group is made up of PAE staff who are obsessed with all things Formula One. Perhaps it’s the antithesis of making a living of working with 8-knot yachts that draws them to the sport. Whatever the reason, you can typically find one member – and usually more – of this core unit from PAE either watching or participating in motorsports during their down time.

Strange as it may seem, the interest in fast cars by slow boaters has not been a one-way street. Despite the odd coupling, PAE has a remarkable history (../../../news/headlines/fast_cars/) with Indy cars and Formula One racing. One of the most prominent examples of this crossover was when famed ex-Formula One driver, Christian Fittipaldi served as crew on board a Nordhavn 62 during the Nordhavn Atlantic Rally.

If there’s one thing a dreamer is good at, it’s relating to the unbridled passion of a fellow dreamer.So when Nordhavn Dreamers site moderatorEd Whitecaught wind of the Formula One obsession happening at PAE, he decided to have some fun bysending the company a box full of Formula Onematchbox cars emblazoned with the Nordhavn logo. While it might have at first seemed amusing, White’s gesture was, in fact, much appreciated and enjoyed by the Formula One diehards at PAE. It also temporarily fulfilled a long-time goal of theirs to have a Nordhavn-sponsored Formula One team someday. Alas, it’s going to require a lot more N120 sales to see that dream through.
