At Nordhavn, we frequently make use of the word family, and with good reason: any Nordhavn owner will tell you about the immeasurable bond that exists amongst the folks who cruise around in our boats. The same goes for the great group of people who work for this amazing company; most of PAE’s employees have been working together for well over 10 years, and we wholeheartedly consider ourselves a familial unit. And so it is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our “brother”, Paul Hutton. Paul was a long-time member of our sales team, and well-liked colleague who had a quick, dry wit and a vast knowledge of the sea. Paul was born and raised in England and served with the Royal British Navy, amassing a great deal of experience as a boat captain. He came to PAE in 2008 to oversee our Newport Beach, CA sales office annex and later joined forces with the southwest sales team at the Dana Point sales office location. Paul was a great father to his beautiful daughter, Charla, and loved to travel. At Nordhavn, he had many loyal customers whose dreams of ocean adventure he helped cultivate. His passing has left a massive gap in our tight-knit community but we will keep his exuberant personality and smiling face alive in our hearts as we navigate the future without him.

I will never forget when Paul called me to break the news that he got the job with Nordhavn. He was so happy and proud, and we had such a good celebration dinner with Charla. I will do my part to keep all the good memories alive. There are so many. My condolences to everyone at Nordhavn, and everyone else who knew and loved him. Fare thee well, Paul. You lived a full, adventurous life and made so many of our lives better — and definitely more fun.. Your light shines everywhere I look. xo

Paul was my cousin, hadn’t seen him for years but knew he loved the sea after his upbringing in newquay with us as children and his time spent in the navy, such a shock to hear news of his passing for all our family and friends and all who knew him, this is a lovely tribute to paul may he rest in peace with his mariner mates

It is comforting to know that he was so well thought of & loved by the Nordhavn family, as his brother, I & my family are devastated by our loss & the loss to Charla of her Dad, not to mention all his friends in Cornwall & the wider USA.

As Charla’s Aunt, I can’t tell you how much we appreciate you recognizing the amazing man her Daddy Boats was. He was her light and her port of safety in this life and we are devastated at his loss for Charla, Pete and his entire family. He loved his job and the people he worked with. We will remember him as full of life and love. Thank you for remembering and honoring him!
We are truly saddened of this news and will miss Paul dearly, he was a genuine soul.
Vickie and I are terribly sorry to hear of Paul’s passing.
He was a wonderfully patient and kind man as he helped us purchase our first boat, ONWARD (N4030, formerly Net Effect and Pilgrim) about six years ago. We truly appreciated his wit and wisdom, as well as the time he willingly shared walking us newbies through the process.
We were blessed to have known Paul and we will be forever grateful that our wakes crossed.

In complete shock to only learn of this today. Met Paul at the Newport Boat Show in 2014 and purchased the “small deal” N4029 with him in 2016. He was great counsel and friend and I will miss his caring way.

Paul and I met during my early days of coming to So Cal from UK. He helped to make my transition soooooo much easier. My fave memories of him include cooking and sharing his Cornish pasties, listening again and again to one of his favorite songs – Yellow by Cold Play, watching loads of British TV, enjoying a few too many Mai-Tai’s at The Wind and Sea on more than one occasion ??, dressing up at Halloween and last but not least – introducing me to Charla. My heart goes out to Charla, Pete and all his family. Paul loved you so, so much. He loved Cornwall, sailing, the ocean and ‘just’ having fun..
I wish we could sing a few lines from Yellow, just once more. – ‘Look at the stars, Look how they shine for you, And everything you do, Yeah, they were all yellow’. RIP my dear friend, You are deeply missed.
