The narrative about Nordhavns being purpose built on the outside and equally utilitarian on the inside shifted long ago when a renewed focus on practical yet luxurious interiors took hold in the 2010s. More than ever, the brand is linked with cultivating posh living spaces, evidenced in the latest semi-custom Nordhavns being delivered. Our owners are known to put forth sweat equity in the name of adventure. And when the day is done, it’s all about unwinding in comfort and luxury.
The newest Nordhavn super yacht, N96#19 Otium @ Sea, was designed in a traditional-meets-old world opulence that starts with dark cherry wood. The richness of the cherry is offset by light colors found in the likes of a polished stone inlay in the dining table, natural cloth wall paper, and marble flooring. At least twenty different stones were used to cover surfaces throughout the boat. An elevator was installed to bring guests from the saloon up to the VIP stateroom on the second level.
Nordhavn 71#03 was delivered earlier this spring with a contemporary interior that reflects the owners’ southwest roots. Walnut wood creates a casual comfortable mood which is enhanced by furniture with clean lines and unfussy décor. Of course, a giant marble dining table reminds you that this boat is in the business of five-star feels.
The owner of Nordhavn 96#17 has had multiple Nordhavns and knew from cruising on his previous boats that he preferred indoor-outdoor living. So when it came to Celtic Pride, he placed an emphasis on creating sumptuous exterior spaces to relax and enjoy the fresh air. Three decks offer a different experience: informal dining and socializing in the cockpit, a quiet spot to unwind on the skylounge deck, and a giant outdoor kitchen and dining area that’s under the cover of the flybridge hardtop; towards the back of the flybridge deck is a hot tub and comfy lounging chairs. Celtic Pride has smartly converted forward parts of the boat – typically not prioritized as useable space – into seating areas. Making the most of these forward sections is perhaps becoming a new Nordhavn trend with the incorporation of a front-facing bench seat in the bow of the Nordhavn 51.
