Nordhavn’s popular Distance Pennant Program was created to recognize the many Nordhavn owners and their great accomplishments of traveling the world’s oceans and enjoying the adventures of a lifetime. It is interesting to note that the average miles traveled is a little under half of a circumnavigation for each registered owner. Our goal is to reach 100 percent registration of all Nordhavns built and enter all of the miles traveled by previous owners.
From the earliest days of the age of sail up to the present time, the history of flags and the history of the sea have been intertwined. From at least the early 19th century, it has been the custom of ships returning from a long overseas deployment to fly an extra long commission pennant made up of whatever bunting could be assembled.
In the Royal Navy, this is known as the “paying off pennant” because a ship used to be taken out of commission and its crew “paid off” at the end of each cruise. In the United States Navy, it is called the homeward-bound pennant. Although not officially sanctioned by regulations, the Navy has issued guidelines for the use of this pennant in NTP-13(B), Flags, Pennants and Customs.

The first level is 2,500 miles. Subsequent pennants will be issued in additional 5,000 nm increments. Each will be a different color. No matter how the miles were accrued: one long trip, 50 short cruises or even if you have owned multiple Nordhavns, it’s the total miles accumulated that we are interested in.

| Voyage Details | Travel with Cuervo N47-34 May 17,2017 - May 19,2017 5,618 Nautical Miles. Port Hamble to Guernsey and back to Southampton Lefkada,Greece to Gocek, Turkey...April2 to August24 2018. April 2 departed Lefkada cruised through the gulf of Patras, stopping in Delphi,on through the Corinth canal to Russian Bay on the island of Poros.April 9 th finds us crossing the Aegean Sea to the islands of Sifnos,Skinoussa,Astipala ,and arriving at the island of Kos on April 12. Then eastbound to Didim, Turkey where the exotic land of mosques and bazaars beckons....after hauling her out for 2 weeks for paint and canvas we explored the many wonders of Ephesus, Pammukale, and many others.May 5 finds us heading along east along the Turkish coast seeing super yachts in Yalikavak, bazaars in Bodrum ,Cleopatras island,the ancient city of Knidos finally leaving the quaint little town of Bozburun Turkey and crossing back into Greek waters again..arriving on the picturesque island of Symi on May 20. From there we head south to Chalki, Kasos, arriving with the meltemi winds to Agios Nicolas on May 25. June 4 we head north past Santorini,on route to Naxos where family awaits. After cruising several more islands we arrive on the island of Rhodes on June15. Back to the Turkish coast to Fethiye, Gocek down as far south to Kekova. August 1 finds us back in Rhodes,then to the magical island of Kastellorizo before heading back to Goçek ,Turkey on August 24. Travel with Gitana N55-41 July - Oct 2019 travelled Southern California . October 27th entered Mexico. Travelled down the Baja to San Jose arriving November 15th,2019. December 7th left for Los Muertos. After 3 hours of rough weather came back to San Jose. December 15, 2019 left for La Cruz arriving on the 17th. Cruised down the coast as far as Barra de Navidad where we stayed for 5 weeks. January 30th, 2020 we headed to Tenacatita, Chamala and on to Puerto Vallarta. February 14th we left for Chacala and then Mazatlan. February 21, 2020 we headed across the sea to Los Muertos where we stayed at anchor for a week. On Feb 28th we left for La Paz. March 20th we headed for the islands between La Paz and the Bay of Conception. Isla Partida, Isla San Francisco, back to La Paz, then on to Puerto Escondido stopping at any anchorages along the way. Isla Coronada, Isla Carmen, San Juanico, V cove, Balandra. Along the way saw a few super pods of Dolphins. May 16th we started to head back To the USA. From V Cove on Isla Carmen we headed to Frailies and then on to Mag Bay. Stayed in Mag Bay for a week waiting for a good weather window to continue the Baja Bash.May 27th we arrived at Bahia de Tortuga where we stayed for 5 days waiting for another weather window. On June 4th, 2020 at 3:45am we arrived at the customs dock in San Diego . Later that day we headed to our slip in mission Bay. We covered a total of 4548 Nautical Miles during that trip. October 2020 - May 2021 Left our slip in Mission Bay, San Diego to Catalina for a few days. Back to Mission Bay for some serious provisioning. Then to Ensenada. From there to Magdelana Bay for one night. Next was San Jose del Cabo. Had Xmas there and then to Muertos Bay for a few days . Next stop was La Pas . A favourite of ours . Then on to Isla San Francisco, Agua Verde (42 knots at anchor), Honeymoon Bay, Isla Carmen and then Puerto Escondido. From there we went back to Isla Carmen and back to Marina Puerto Escondido (MPE). On to Isla Coronado, San Juanico and back to MPE. We went up farther north to Bay of Conception where we stayed for a week From there we headed to San Carlos with a stop for a couple days at Chivato . We stayed in San Carlos for a few days then went onto Isla Tiburion. From there we went to Puerto Don Juan. We left Puerto Don Juan for San Fransquito for one night. Santa Rosalia was the next stop before stopping in the bay of Conception. Isla Coronado and then Back to MPE . After a bit of reprovisioning we left for Isla San Jose, Isla Espiritu Santo and the La Paz. From La Paz we went to Muertos and San Jose del Cabo. We left Cabo for Ensenada with stops at Turtle Bay and Isla Cedros. We checked out of Mexico in Ensenada and went to San Diego where we were turned around due to unnecessary travel and went back to Marina Coral in Ensenada. A total of 3078 nm December 2021 - March 2022 Late start this year. Left Mission Bay in San Diego on December 17th. Fueled up in San Diego and stayed one night at the Guest dock on Shelter Island.Left San Diego at 6:30am for Marina Coral in Ensenada,Mx. Saw whales on the way down. Fito and his excellent staff got us checked into Mexico. On December 23rd at 11:45am we left for Turtle Bay arriving at 02:30 on the 25th. Merry Xmas and Happy Birthday to our oldest daughter !! It was a nice smooth trip. We left Turtle Bay for Magdelana Bay on the 28th of December. we arrived at19.25 on the 29th. Another smooth ride. We picked up a crew member in Mag Bay. My old buddy Hugh flew into Loreto and cabbed it to San Carlos where we picked him up via panga. We left Mag Bay on January 3rd, 2022 at 09:28 arriving in Barra de Navidad on January 6th at 10:03. That part of the trip was a bit lumpy but nothing the boat or crew couldn't handle. At 11:34 on January 10th we left Barra for Ixtapa to meet up with friends on Last Arrow after getting some fuel. We arrived in Ixtapa on the 11th at 15:30 after dodging a fair amount of freighters. We left Ixtapa after doing an inland tour and our friend Hugh leaving for back home at 07:20 on January 31, 2022 for Paponoa,Mx. We arrived at 13:14 and set the anchor. A very lumpy anchorage and we were glad to get going in the am.We left a 06:00 on February 1st and arrived in Acapulco at16:00. Lots of turtle sightings. On Feb 4th at 08:00 we left Acapulco for Huatulco Mx. arriving on Feb 6th at 16:20 Lots of sea life, turtles, marlin, dolphins. We had our friend Hugh D. visit again in Huatulco. We left at 06:55 on Feb17th for Chiapas Mx. Got caught up in a longline. The fisherman dove and cut the line away. Again lots of turtles. We arrived at Marina Chiapas at 12:30 onFeb 18th. We left Chiapas Mx for El Salvador on feb 21st at 15:00 dodging fishing pangas and trawlers the whole trip. We arrived at Puerto del Sol bar at the requested time of 07:00. the pilot boat was 40 minutes late causing a very exciting trip across the bar. After three tries we made it into the marina. Feb 23rd. On Feb 27th we left for Costa Rica and Marina Papagayo arriving at 08:00 on the 29th. March 4th we left for Bahia Huevos and anchored for 3 nights then back to the marina for a flight to Cabo San Lucas . Trip length was 2,448 miles We purchased N6318 in April 2022 Brought her from Ensenada MX to Dana Point then back around the Baja to Puerto Escondido Cruised the islands in the sea of Cortez then left Gitana II for the summer at MPE . Came back in September and cruised the islands and then headed straight to Papagayo,Costa Rica with one stop in Cabo for fuel, 2000 gallons, and exit paperwork . We ran 24/7 except for a stop at an anchorage along the way to change oil . Approx 13 days later we are in Papagayo marina . We had Assen from SD Captains join us for that stretch . From there we cruised our way down to the perlas Islands of Panama where we are today Dec 9,2022 the total mileage for that was 4,215 miles From the Perlas Islands we went to Flaminco Marina in Panama City while we awaited our measurement and paperwork to go through the Panama Canal. Our departure date was Dec 15, 2022. We left the dock at 4:15am with our line handlers aboard. We met up with our Advisor at 06:00 and pulled the anchor at 06:30 to head towards the canal entrance. Its a fluid situation while you wait for your ship to follow into the locks and this can change numerous times. We finally got word that we would be tying up to a tug at approx 0800. Not my first choice but no other options. It was a very memorable experience and a bit stressful at times going through the canal. A trip that I won't forget anytime soon. We arrived Shelterbay Marina at 18:15. We stayed for a couple weeks exploring that area and left for Boca Del Toro on January 2, 2023. We were off the dock at 13:05 for a 24 hour trip. The trip was rough and our three visitors were green for the entire trip. We had the anchor down at 08:45 in Laguna de Bluefield. We had dugout canoes visiting our boat constantly until late at night with some of the locals coming on the boat without invitation. We decided to leave at 08:45 the next morning and headed to Red Frog Marina. we used Red Frog Marina as a home base and cruised the islands for the next month. Total mileage was 379
